The Baltit Fort stands tall and proud in Karimabad. It should, with its historical and cultural heritage in the Hunza region of Pakistan. Our visit to the restored fort was fun-filled with an English speaking guide to help us understand the significance of the great icon.

When we first arrived in Karimabad in the Upper Hunza region of Pakistan, it was apparent that the tap water was not for drinking. We barely wanted to use it for showering. Our poor SteriPEN pre-filter + ultraviolet purifier didn’t stand a chance to this dark glass:
