In Pakistan, many people ride on the back of Suzuki mini-buses. These small vehicles are a popular and economical way of getting around. It’ll normally cost around 8 Rupees (about 10 US cents) to get you pretty much anywhere in a small city, such as in Gilgit. Of course, this is riding in public transportation style where you may find yourself with a tiny spot in the back or holding on in the back.
Here’s what a typical Suzuki mini-bus looks like from the back:

This is the way of life in Pakistan…and if you happen to be female, you’re encouraged to ride in the front with the driver. If the passenger seat is occupied by a man, females even have the ‘power’ to dismiss him to the back of the mini-bus.
